ENGAA PAST PAPERS
ENGAA Past Papers (2015–2023)
Engineering Admissions Assessment. The final ENGAA sitting was the 2023 admissions cycle. From 2024 onwards the ESAT replaced it, the ENGAA is no longer administered, and the existing archive is all there is. FrontierVUE hosts all 13 papers we hold, each sat online in a timed interface with worked solutions.

What the ENGAA was, and why it still matters
The admissions test for Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
The ENGAA had two sections. Section 1 covered mathematics and physics; Section 2 covered advanced physics and mathematics at a noticeably higher level. All questions were multiple choice.
The ENGAA is the most engineering-oriented of the predecessor tests, and its combination of mathematics and physics maps almost directly onto the ESAT pairing of Mathematics 1 with Physics. For candidates applying to engineering, materials or chemical engineering, the ENGAA archive is the most targeted practice available.
Which ESAT module each ENGAA part maps to
| ENGAA part | ESAT module | Why it maps |
|---|---|---|
| Section 1 Part A (Mathematics) | Mathematics 1 | Compulsory for every ESAT candidate and the closest match in the archive. |
| Section 1 Part B (Physics) | Physics | The engineering slant of these physics questions lines up closely with the ESAT physics module. |
| Section 2 (Advanced Physics and Mathematics) | Mathematics 2 · Physics | Harder than Section 1, and the right material for candidates targeting engineering at Cambridge or Imperial. |
This table describes continuity of content and question style, not an official equivalence. The ESAT has its own specification, so always check the UAT-UK specification before you sit it.
Before you use this archive
The ENGAA was paper-based and covered only mathematics and physics, with no chemistry or biology. If your ESAT module combination includes either of those, you will need separate material for them (the NSAA archive covers both).
