The official wording for the 2026 admissions round (2027 entry) is clear. Oxford's Department of Computer Science (cs.ox.ac.uk) states that all applicants for Maths, Computer Science or the joint honours courses must take the TMUA, and that the department will use TMUA scores to decide who to shortlist. For GG14, the Mathematical Institute (maths.ox.ac.uk) states that candidates must register for the TMUA and take it in the October sitting (12 to 16 October 2026), with the score used together with the rest of the UCAS application to decide shortlisting for interview.
Note that the official wording quoted here only describes how scores are used for shortlisting; it does not publish a fixed cut-off, so treat any "threshold" figure from unofficial sources with caution.

02 Key Dates and Registration: Oxford Accepts the October Sitting Only
Start with the rule that matters most: the 2027 entry cycle has two TMUA sittings, October and January, but Oxford accepts October scores only for all three courses (G400, IV15 and GG14). If you are applying to Oxford, you must sit in October; a January score will not count for your Oxford application.
Timeline for the 2027 entry cycle (always confirm against official UAT-UK channels):
- 1 June 2026: TMUA registration opens
- 20 July to 28 September 2026: booking window; Oxford applicants must book the October sitting within it

04 What Changes for 2027: MAT Discontinued, TMUA Takes Over
Oxford's Department of Computer Science (cs.ox.ac.uk) states that from the 2026 admissions round (2027 entry) the MAT has been discontinued and all applicants take the TMUA instead. For candidates applying to G400, IV15 or GG14, that means:
- Do not prepare for the MAT based on past years' advice; the admissions test for 2027 entry is the TMUA, and it must be the October sitting.
- Both TMUA papers are multiple choice, but Paper 2 is dedicated to mathematical reasoning and logic, so the demand for rigorous thinking has not gone away. The logic and proof guide is the best starting point for this material.
